The Brief:
Packaging design brief for the officially licensed Warhammer Age of Sigmar Champions: Unleashed expansion. This exciting expansion introduces 188 dynamic new cards, expanding gameplay with innovative features, diverse new races, and immersive realms. The design needed to clearly differentiate this release while seamlessly integrating with existing product aesthetics and brand guidelines.
The packaging prominently features stunning artwork of the new Unleashed champion, Shadow Queen Morathi. Collaborating closely with the Senior Artist, I developed a design highlighting this powerful character alongside a refreshed expansion logo. Achieving this required meticulous masking and careful editing of the original card artwork, coupled with adjustments to the color palette to match the branding of this new release.
Considering the premium nature of the product, special attention was given to the foil packaging. A precise mask was created to produce matte-finished areas on the champion illustration and typographic elements, enhancing contrast and sophistication. This approach not only elevates the tactile experience but also adheres precisely to the detailed print specifications required.
Finally, to support the product’s launch and promotional activities, I produced a high-quality 3D render of the packaging in Photoshop, capturing its vibrant and eye-catching presence for marketing purposes prior to physical production.
